Apprenticeship
Applications Deposit
Hi Susun.
I sent you $75 for your October spirit healing intensive but
unfortunately, because of money and school I wasn't able to
go. I would really like to be one of your live in apprentices,
either this summer or next and I was hoping you would consider
using that $75 for the application fee.
I would love to come for two months this summer but I may
not be able to raise the money. Let me know and thank you
for taking the time.

Susun's Response: I hope you can come
Dear Carrie,
In general, those who do not call ahead to let us know they
are not attending a workshop, forfeit the deposit. I am willing
to apply $50 of it to your apprentice application fee however.
When you write with your application, please remind me of
this discussion.
I intend to have two types of live-in apprenticeships next
year: three-month shamanic apprenticeships and one-month (or
more) herbal apprenticeships. Further info on these will be
available at my website by early December and in the mail
by early February.

Apprenticeship Costs- Work/Trade
Info
Hi,
I'm inquiring about the live-in herbal shamanic apprenticeship
you offer, (particularly the August session). I'm very interested,
but wanted to get more clear on the payment methods.
After you pay the $100 non-refundable deposit when you apply,
and then the $1800 when you first arrive, how much of the
rest of the $5400 can you pay off with your 'work-trade' credits?
I especially wanted to know if you are allowed to take advantage
of the work-trade-off-50% plan ($2700)? That still leaves
$900 and I wonder if the agreement on the website means it
is negotiable to pay off this rest of the payment with more
work exchange throughout the apprenticeship...
I would love these agreements, especially since anything
beyond $1800 goes beyond my financial abilities at the moment...!
Thanks and please e-mail me back, if you have time, because
I'm quite interested in applying [as an intermediate (studied
herbs in a self-designed B.A. w/in 4 yrs) post-college student].
Susun's Response:
You pay $100 to apply for apprenticeship; no
work exchange on that. But, you can work off 50% of all other
fees. But no more than 50%. Hope this is clear. Hope you can
come.

Apprentices
Taking Workshops
Hi Susan,
I just had a quick question about the Simple Herbal Apprenticeship.
I was wondering, if, while one is doing the internship at
your retreat center, if the intensives(i.e. Green witch Intensive
etc.) are either included or discounted for those doing the
Simple Herbal Apprenticeship. Or does the apprentice
just pay full price? I was curious to know how
that worked.
Thanks for your time and any info. you could give me would
be great!
Thanks so much.
Blessings,
Randy
Susun's Response: no charge for workshops
Dear Randy,
simple herbal apprentices attend all workshops at the wise
woman center at no extra charge.

Apprenticeship -Hands
on Training?
Hello,
I would like to be added to your mailing list and receive
your free newsletter.
I am a certified herbalist and was a student of Teresa Wolfe's.
I would like to do herbal consultations, but would like to
get some practical experience with them before going into
business. Would your simple herbal apprenticeship provide
that experience? Or, can you provide me with other resources
where I can get additional hands on training?
Thank you for your response.
Janet
Susun's Response: try an apprenticeship
Janet
It is unlikely that the simple herbal apprenticeship would
satisfy your desires, although it does include attendance
at my regular Tuesday night consultations. Where do you live?
If you live nearby, you could come to consultation night for
$25 per session. Or you could call during consultation hours
(7:30 - 9:30 Tuesday nights) and I could do a consultation
with you so you could see my style.
I am sure you're aware that I work in the Wise Woman Tradition,
where there are no diseases, no cures, and no healers. If
you are interested in observing someone who prescribes herbs
like drugs, treating disease and ignoring the patient, you
would be wise to look further.
If you want to develop yourself, so you can truly be of assistance
to others, so you can resonate with wholeness and heal through
your presence, then an apprenticeship could be quite useful
to you. The shamanic apprenticeship is best for anyone who
plans to put themselves out publicly. But you could, I believe,
benefit from any of my apprentice offerings: live-out, simple
herbal, or shamanic.
I have been the backup herbalist for more than a few women
as they began their practices. Usually, I am paid a retainer
and we have a regular phone date to discuss the week's cases.
I charge $100 per hour for this. There is a minimum of two
hours.
Good luck with your practice and your search for role models.
Hope we can work together in some way.
